Constitutional Freedoms, Freedom of Speech, and X

Constitutional Freedoms, Freedom of Speech, and X

X and Elon Musk are supporting freedom of speech and constitutional freedoms in the USA and globally.

“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” – Benjamin Franklin

Remembering Alameda County & Tesla in 2020

This is a fast read, but I want to extend kindness to you as you read this. I hope you’ll slow down a moment, grab a sweet Texas treat, maybe a warm biscuit with butter and honey, and soak in what I think is worthy info. Let’s start with May, 2020.

In May of 2020, an unelected interim health officer for Alameda County, California, Dr. Erica Pan, determined that Tesla and other manufacturing facilities in the county should be prevented from operating.

Yes, that’s right. An unelected interim health officer decided this.

This decision was made despite both the President of the USA and the Governor of California allowing car manufacturers across the USA to remain open during the same period.

Elon Musk rightly filed suit against Alameda County.

In a letter to his employees, Elon explained that he would be going to work and encouraged anyone who did not feel comfortable working, to stay home. He even said that he would risk being arrested to go to work.

Thousands of people including myself, did not sleep that night. The thought of Elon getting arrested simply for working kept me awake. I had to work as a nurse, but my kids were all “sheltering in place” and so was my husband. We were living in the dreary, over-regulated days of 2020 lockdowns. I was rooting for Elon. Many people who could see the government overreach were rooting for him that night. In the morning, he went to work at the factory. He was not arrested.

(He later withdrew the lawsuit, but the memory never escapes me of how fragile our system is.)

Australia: 2024

“Should the eSafety Commissioner (an unelected official) in Australia have authority over all countries on Earth?”  – Elon Musk

Fast forward to the present day, and we find ourselves in a similar situation today with an unelected bureaucrat in Australia, the “eSafety Commissioner,” demanding that X remove certain posts outside of Australia’s jurisdiction.

Like the example I gave from 2020 from Alameda County, this person has an unnecessary and unjustified amount of power to unfairly attempt to force X to take down posts or shut down or else owe a fine of the arbitrary amount of $500,000 per day.

In response, Elon Musk is on the right side of justice to refuse to comply with the order, he will always be committed to protecting freedom of speech globally. The situation mirrors the showdown in Alameda County, with an unelected official also attempting to impose their will on a company and its employees.

I know how most people would answer Elon’s question that he posted here on X. “Should the eSafety Commissar (an unelected official) in Australia have authority over all countries on Earth?” Most people will answer, “No.”

Legacy Media

The legacy media has once again villainized Elon Musk for his refusal to obey the orders of the Australian eSafety Commissioner, positioning an unelected bureaucrat as a hero.

However, this narrative in the legacy media ignores the fact that the eSafety Commissioner is an activist with a track record of censorship that only ever targets one side.

Streisand Effect

The Australian government’s actions have inadvertently brought more attention to the story of Bishop Mar Mari being stabbed in his own house of worship. This is likely an unintended consequence of Australia attempting to censor information, as it often brings more attention to the very thing the government is trying to suppress.

Brazil: 2024

“To be clear, đť•Ź is only trying to follow the laws of Brazil without favor or disfavor to any political candidate.” – Elon

The Brazilian government is also attempting to control what can and cannot be posted on social media platforms like X. The situation in Brazil is serious because it is active now and a threat to freedom of thought and speech.

The Brazilian government is empowering a judge, Justice Alexandre Morales, to dictate what can and can’t be posted on the social media platform. Almost anything posted that disagrees with the narrative of the powerful current Brazilian government, is censored or targeted for censorship, by the (you guessed it) current Brazilian government.

Again, Elon facing up to such hostility to freedom of speech places him as a next-level hero. He is unlike other CEOs – he cares deeply about freedom of speech and is willing to pay for it.

Halting Global Threat to Constitutional Freedoms

The fight for freedom of speech is a global one, with governments and unelected officials aka “activists” attempting to impose their will on the citizens of the world. The stories of Tesla in Alameda County and X in Australia and Brazil are important to remember in history as reminders of the importance of standing up for our constitutional freedoms.

We Can Support Freedom of Speech

Freedom of speech is something that X is willing to pay for dearly. Every person who has X Premium is also supporting freedom of speech. For those who want to support X above and beyond this, subscribing to X Premium+ is a good way.

With the extensive release of the Twitter files, Elon Musk and others have contributed to changing how people think about the lockdowns and COVID-19. The backroom deals that were once hidden are now exposed and more are still being exposed, leading to heightened awareness of the extent of government control.
